Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator working with civil construction plant, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. The individual may provide theoretical advice and support a team.

Entry & Admission Requirements

All applicants must be employed in civil construction work and have access to all required equipment. Learners enrolling in the RII30820 Cert III in Civil Construction Plant Operations would be expected to have minimum LLN skills that align to Level 2 of the ACSF in order for them to successfully undertake the qualification. Learners with LLN skills at lower levels than those suggested will require additional support to successfully undertake the qualification.

  • Applicants must be aged 18 or above
  • To assist prospective students to determine if the course is suitable and appropriate for their individual needs, a Pre-training Review (PTR) will be conducted.
  • Successful completion of BCTA’s Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) test.

This program is to be delivered off the job in a classroom and a carpentry workshop and includes 120 hours of work placement (3 weeks). Classroom delivery will be for 2 days per week for 30 weeks, giving a total delivery time of 33 weeks.

This Training is delivered with Victorian Government Funding for eligible students.

From 1 January 2023, you need to meet these requirements to be eligible for Skills First subsidised training:

Citizenship

You must be:

  1. an Australian citizen, or
  2. an Australian permanent resident, or
  3. a New Zealand citizen.
Physical location

You must be physically present in Victoria while participating in training and assessment.

Course limits

Skills First funding is limited to:

  1. Two courses at a time
  2. Two courses in a year.

you can only enter the program at the scheduled commencement, or at the commencement of the new unit.
